About This Opportunity

The successful appointee will be involved in the optimization of a confocal rheometer setup for study of soft and biological materials. The aim will be to observe cell focal adhesion and cellular activity as a function of applied force, as well as visualise the processes in soft materials under external stress. Toward this aim a combined confocal-rheometer setup will be used, so that the microscope can acquire time-resolved, three-dimensional volumes and ultimately high-resolution images of a cell/extracellular matrix samples whose bulk visco-elastic properties will be tune and measured simultaneously.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of physics, chemistry, material science or related discipline with at least one year of postdoctoral experience in the field of confocal microscopy. You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of super resolution microscopy; and demonstrated teaching and training skills at undergraduate and graduate levels. Your evidence of contribution to research in materials science will be highly regarded.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position at Research Academic level A. This is a twelve month appointment with a possibility of renewal subject to research funding and output.

The base salary will be in the range $67,542 - $90,982, plus super of up to 17%.
