Duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepare and update all standard of operations that conforms to the South African Veterinary Council`s specifications.
  • Practically involved in all studies approved by the Ethics Committee.
  • Support postgraduate students with proposal writing for animal studies.
  • Monitor and follow up on proposals submitted to various ethics committees.
  • Represent NSA-QWA on the animal Ethic Committee of the UFS.
  • Arrange NSPCA inspection and workshop/ training visit.
  • Ensure compliance at all time and take responsibility for consequences of noncompliance (SAVETC and NSPCA).
  • Support the Faculty Animal Care Community Project.
  • Provide administration support to the Office of the Assistant Dean.
  • Manage all purchases relating to animal facility management and student and student`s researches.


Inherent requirements:
  • Diploma in Veterinary Technology or Diploma in Animal Health.
  • Registered member of South African Veterinary Council or other recognized bodies.
  • One (1) to two (2) years relevant experience in Animal environment.
  • Valid driver's license.


Required competencies:
  • Knowledge and understanding of NSPCA and their operations.
  • Good knowledge of South African Veterinary Council and their operations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Good problem-solving skills, logical and analytical.
  • Decision making skills, able to be objective, flexible but decisive.
  • Extremely professional with high personal standards, able to produce work of a superior quality.
  • Customer service ethic with a track record of good customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Able to work independently as well as a member of a team and under pressure.
  • Willingness to go beyond the call of duty and to work after hours.
  • Business acumen.
  • Results oriented.
