Job Details

The 0.6 FTE Lecturer in Arts and Humanities will teach on the Arts and Humanities pathway of the innovative and interdisciplinary Foundation in Arts and Social Sciences (CertHE) programme. This post is fixed-term for 3 years.

The successful applicant will have strong experience as a teacher in a higher education setting and some knowledge of administration of teaching in higher education, with experience or potential to work with mature learners without conventional prior qualifications.

The successful applicant will contribute to and develop teaching on the Foundation programme and will also actively take on administrative duties for the programme - including working with colleagues on admissions and programme delivery - and participate fully in the working life of the programme and wider School. This post seeks to strengthen the commitment to widening participation and diversity on this programme and more broadly.

The Foundation in Arts and Social Sciences (Cert HE) is a one-year programme designed to prepare students for study in higher education, and leading to a place on a degree in the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Social Sciences. The course has no formal entrance criteria, and prioritises applications from candidates from groups currently underrepresented in higher education. It is interdisciplinary in nature, providing students with the skills they need to succeed, introducing them to the range of subjects on offer in either Faculty, and supporting them as they specialise and choose a degree subject to progress to. The Foundation in Arts and Social Sciences is a Faculty of Arts programme, which is based for administrative purposes in the School of Humanities. The successful applicant will be based in the appropriate department within the Faculty of Arts. This post is open to candidates who specialize in any of the fields taught within the Faculty of Arts (see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/arts/study/ ).

The appointment start date is 1 August 2019 or as soon thereafter as possible.

For further information about the programme, see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/arts/study/foundation/
