Job Details
The Bristol Cyber Security Group, led by Professor Awais Rashid, is seeking to appoint a post-doc to study organisational cyber security practices and how they relate to the EU NIS directive on security of network and information systems. The group forms part of the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) at Bristol.
You will join a major programme of research focusing on cyber security of large-scale infrastructures, e.g., water, power, etc. that underpin everyday lives in society. You will develop innovative research that puts you at the forefront of work on understanding how existing organisational cybersecurity practices relate to the EU Directive on Network and Information Systems Security.
You will develop and carry out ethnographic and/or interview-based research on the existing organisational cybersecurity practices and how they relate to the EU Directive on Network and Information Systems Security. To this end, you will investigate organisational cybersecurity practices by generating data on situated experiences, rationalities, commitments and infrastructures, focusing on the ways in which cybersecurity measures are developed and implemented. You will explore fundamental aspects of organisational language, rationalities and commitments, which are performed by specific devices delivering organisational cyber security policies.
Given its focus on cyber security practices and their relationship to the NIS directive, the project offers an exciting opportunity to combine research concepts and ideas with real world problems and their solutions.
You will also work in collaboration with the co-investigators, Dr. Sveta Milyaeva and Dr. Dirk van der Linden as well as other members of the Bristol Cyber Security Group. There is a strong expectation that you will actively contribute to the strong profile of Cyber Security at Bristol and its inter-disciplinary ethos through participation in the development and publication of research results in major international conferences and journals.
For informal discussion about the post you are welcome to contact: Professor Awais Rashid ( awais.rashid@bristol.ac.uk ).
The University of Bristol is committed to equality and we value the diversity of our staff and students.
