Job Details
The Library Research Support team is looking for an Assistant Research Support Librarian to provide administrative support for the Research Data Management service in the University of Bristol. The focus of the service is to advocate the importance of actively managing and sharing research data and assist academic researchers with research data management. The post-holder will be expected to assist with an advocacy programme with elements of training, written guidance and face-to-face meetings with academics.
Another key duty will be to help researchers publish data via the University's data repository (data.bris.ac.uk). An understanding of RDM drivers such as funder requirements and academic publisher mandates is desirable.
The role is part of the Library Research Support team, providing a range of services for researchers, including; RDM, Open Access, digital humanities, systematic reviews, etheses, researcher metrics and the management of sensitive research data. You will be expected to develop an understanding of each of these areas.
The post-holder will be expected to work very closely with the Research Support Librarian for research data and the Research Information Analyst who has responsibility for the management of sensitive research data (often, though not exclusively, from medical and social science disciplines).
The Library Service is a trusted and valued part of the University community and plays a key role in the education and research endeavour at the University of Bristol. The Service is responsible for libraries, study centres and a research store, and is the institutional champion for study space, open access and research data management services.
