The School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering is internationally renowned for its excellence in teaching, discovery and engagement, establishing Queensland as a key region for engineering innovation. The role

The aim of this two year research project is to understand the impact of blasting on geotechnical risks and mine productivity. This is an opportunity to consolidate existing knowledge with new monitoring and advanced modelling techniques.

The person

Background in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering with strong computing and analytical skills. Background in the application of explosives engineering and blasting technology is desirable but not essential. The candidate must have the ability to conduct independent research and willingness to travel as the research work will be conducted on sites within Australia.

Remuneration

$27,596 per year (2019 rate), tax-free and indexed annually. Mphil funding is for two years (24 months) with possible extension up to 28.5 months. A top-up of $6,000 per annum may also be available for outstanding candidates.
