Fixed term position available until 30 June 2020 with potential to extend further

Nationally and internationally recognised Adelaide Health Technology Assessment (AHTA) agency

This role is based at AHTA, an agency that has been integral in informing government funding policy for medical services and pharmaceuticals for close on 20 years.

AHTA is an active member of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA), a world leading network of 50 not-for-profit agencies from 30 countries. AHTA is located in the School of Public Health within Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in the new Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building.

Working under limited supervision and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Research Officer will have the responsibility of actively contributing to the critical appraisal and evaluation of submissions that the pharmaceutical industry have made to the Department of Health to have their drugs funded under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).

To be successful you will need:
  • Familiarity with the health system and delivery of health services in Australia, particularly the listing and prescribing of pharmaceuticals.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and language expression, including the ability to produce quality written reports and/or other scientific papers within tight deadlines.
  • Experience in analysing and synthesising information from a range of sources and presenting options to inform policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically appraise and interpret complex technical information in the medical literature including determining the influence of bias and confounding on study results and assessing the applicability of findings to the Australian population.
  • Extensive relevant experience in epidemiology, public health, health economics, pharmacy, medicine or a related discipline.
