This is an exciting opportunity to join the Bristol BioDesign Institute (BBI), the University of Bristol's Specialist Research Institute for synthetic biology. The Bristol BioDesign Institute (BBI) Administrator is a critical post in the vibrant BBI team, providing operational support necessary support to develop and grow the interdisciplinary, thriving research environment.

Key responsibilities are:
  • Supporting a busy programme of BBI research-related activities including workshops, conferences, seminars and public engagement events and organisation of management and governance meetings.
  • Marketting the BBI to and engaging with external audiences. This will include developing and maintaining a BBI web site and social media channels.
  • Providing high-level management and personal support to senior leaders in BBI. This will involve diary management, organisation of travel and related activities.


This role holder will offer key support across the schools, faculties and professional services teams associated with the BBI, and will collaborate with administrators and coordinators of other University Research Institutes.

The post would be suited to ambitious and self-motivated applicants, with a desire to work across a portfolio of different activities, and with many different groups within and outside of the University. There is high potential for autonomy in the role for the right applicant. Individuals will need to be articulate and motivated, with excellent communication, IT and interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to managing a varied and busy workload.
