Job Details
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Library Customer Services Supervisor Team responsible for coordinating delivery of accessible and inclusive front-line services to students and researchers across the University. As a Library Supervisor based within a zone of libraries you will work with colleagues to ensure that service levels are maintained to a high standard and as advertised. You will support the management of staff performance, recruitment and training.
We are seeking to appoint a candidate with some experience of first line management or of taking a lead within a defined area of responsibility or project, demonstrating excellent customer focus and a strong drive to motivate and lead teams. You will have knowledge and understanding of the challenges of delivering front-line services within a 24/7 library environment. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work and communicate well with a wide range of staff and customers. This role includes working to provide front line services across Bank Holidays and University closure days when library sites are open.
You will also work within the functional area of the Customer Services Excellence team to develop and deliver front line training for library assistants and library support assistants working across service desks. This includes review of induction processes and ensuring that staff are equipped to confidently support and deliver new and emerging services. During the next academic year, the focus will be to work with other team members to further develop the 'Ask a Librarian' chat service to provide 24/7 virtual enquiry support.
