Required Qualifications

M.D., M.D. /Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified (or acceptable equivalent) in Neurology and eligible for or have a license to practice medicine in New York State. Demonstrated experience in budgetary and personnel management is needed. Must be eligible for a senior faculty appointment in accordance with the criteria established by the School of Medicine for appointment, promotion and tenure.

Demonstrate the highest level of ethical conduct and a commitment to diversity; possess a track record of recruiting and retaining outstanding clinical, educational and research (basic and translational) faculty; strong interpersonal and communication skills; a demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a complex organization; strong academic credentials evidenced by a track record of successful extramural funding and scholarly accomplishments; a training track record that documents a commitment to medical education and mentoring of young faculty and fellows; experience with the management of a complex clinical practice within a medical center setting and in the oversight of clinical, education and research budgets; and possess the ability to establish effective operational practices that create an environment that supports the missions of the department.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The chair has overall responsibility for advancing the clinical, educational and research missions of the Department which has divisions of Clinical Neurophysiology, Neuropsychology, Child Neurology, and Vascular Neurology. The Chair of Neurology will also participate significantly in the development of a world-class Neurosciences Institute.

Special Notes

This is a tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2020.
