Duties and responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Conduct research.
- Mentor students towards dissertations and theses.
- Get involved with community projects.
- Perform general administration duties as applicable at university level.
Inherent requirements
- PhD degree in Architecture.
- Proven experience in presentation of paper/posters at national scholarly conferences.
- Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
- An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
- Proven experience in supervision of graduated masters' students.
- A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
- Proven experience of service as an active member of national or international scholarly society.
Required competencies:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.
- Ability to teach architectural design together with either architectural history/theory or construction, both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Ability to supervise PhD students in the Design program.
- Research interest in one or more of the following areas: architectural history/theory, architectural design or construction.
- Good communication and social skills.
- Business acumen.
- Result orientated.
- Strategic thinking.
- Building coalitions.
- Leading.
Recommendations:
- Teaching experience at tertiary institution level.
