The Institute of Modern Languages (IML)
Queensland's leading language services provider since 1934. We believe education is a life long journey. Whether a student wants to work or study overseas, follow new interests or maintain their language skills, IML gives them that opportunity in approx. 30 languages in a vibrant and supportive learning environment.
Students at IML study part-time and all courses are open to the general public with no entrance requirements. The following services are also offered: translation, interpreting, customised courses for organisations, personalised language learning for individuals & small groups.
It is a unit within the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty and operates on a fee-for-service basis. More information can be obtained at the IML website at www.iml.uq.edu.au .
The role
The successful applicant will be expected to plan and teach Thai language classes for adult students, manage and assist their learning as well as monitor their progress.
The person
Applicants should ideally possess qualifications in either language teaching, teaching, linguistics or TESOL. In addition, either a degree in the language or native speaker like fluency with a period of residence in a country in which the language is spoken, is a requirement. Knowledge of current language teaching and assessment practices in Australia is also desirable.

Remuneration
This is a casual appointment at $73.26 per hour plus 9.5% employer superannuation contribution for approximately 2 hours per week per semester.
