Job Details

Be responsible for leading statistical analyses and providing statistical advice and services to support research activities at the Health Performance and Policy Research Unit (HPPR) and to collaboratively assist in producing relevant scientific articles, communications and reports

The (HPPR) Unit, located at the Basil Hetzel Research Institute, assesses important end results of healthcare such as effectiveness, safety, quality, and costs. Combining clinical medicine and health services research, HPPR's goal is to generate research that informs clinical and policy strategies to improve the quality of healthcare. HPPR is particularly focused on leveraging large volumes of data routinely collected by health care facilities, and advanced analytical methods, to inform health outcomes and decision-making, and to develop low-cost and implementable measures to detect unwarranted variation in care.

This position will be responsible for leading the analysis of large-scale national data to assess patient outcomes and profile variation in care using a variety of statistical modelling techniques. You will join a multi-disciplinary research team comprised of academic investigators, statisticians, clinicians and higher degree students. The position offers a mix of health services research involving complex healthcare datasets and exposure to patient centred clinical research. There are considerable opportunities to expand your statistical skills and research experiences or lead a research area within the scope of the broader program.

To be successful you will need:
  • Completion of a Master's Degree or PhD or equivalent experience in statistics.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of multivariate statistical methods for analysis of continuous and categorical variables.
  • Experience in contributing towards producing conference and seminar papers and submitting publications in research particularly in areas directly related to statistical analysis.
  • Evidence of contribution towards research relevant to clinical or health services research.
  • Ability to provide advice and support to post graduate students particularly related to statistical analysis.
