The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine is one of four Schools within the Faculty of Sciences. With around 135 academic staff it is internationally renowned for its research, winning income of almost $35 million annually. The School's research includes plant breeding & genetics, food & nutrition science plant physiology, viticulture & oenology, horticulture, plant protection, soil science and farming systems. It also runs several successful undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs that attract both domestic and international students.

Reporting to the Executive Dean of Science, the Head of School plays a key role in leading the School within the Faculty and across the broader university. The Head will be expected to foster a culture of research and teaching excellence, develop compelling educational offerings, grow student enrolments and load, foster local and international partnerships, and provide both leadership and strategic planning to the School.

The University is seeking an active researcher of international standing with a proven track record of leadership. A collegiate approach to working is considered important as is the ability to work effectively with partners and colleagues on the Waite campus where the position is based. The role offers the latitude to further advance the standing of a very well performing School.
