Job Details
A postdoctoral position is opening in the Department of Chemistry within the NCCR for Molecular Systems Engineering (www.nccr-mse.ch) jointly in the research groups of Professor Catherine E. Housecroft and Professor Cornelia G. Palivan at the University of Basel.
Your position
The topic of the research project is 'Cascade reactions distributed over networks of nanocompartments with spatial precision' and the start date is 01.10.2019. The project is developing an innovative methodology to design multi-functional systems supporting cascade reactions in 2D networks of nano-compartments (polymersomes, liposomes) by their controlled anchoring and patterning on surfaces. Engineering hard surfaces and the immobilization of different nano-compartments containing photocatalysts and biomolecules involved in cascade reactions will provide new soft-hard interfaces with a micro- and nanoscale environment, which can modulate emerging properties and activity.
Your profile
Candidates must have completed a PhD in Chemistry or Nanosciences. Experience in synthetic organic polymer chemistry is essential and knowledge of surface characterization methods is also required. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and independent. A good working knowledge of both written and spoken English is required.
Application / Contact
Application deadline: 31.07.2019
