The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is a leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational units: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.

The Teeko+ Project is a multi-country, transition-to-scale project, which aims to scale-up a previously successful pilot project, Teeko. It aims to improve coverage of; and access to immunization and maternal health care in remote and marginalized communities of Afghanistan and Pakistan through technologies.

This is a grant-funded, short-term contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • contributing in writing of thought pieces, manuscripts, research summaries and reports
  • conducting literature reviews on assigned topics
  • coordinating meetings and dialogues with potential collaborators
  • coordinating with the network of researchers and practitioners
  • analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data
  • coordinating research related activities with different stakeholders.

Requirements

You should have:
  • MBBS and a relevant 2-year Master's degree or equivalent (e.g., MPH, MSc in Health Policy Management or Health Systems)
  • two to three years' experience in community based research
  • good knowledge of current research methodologies
  • ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in writing with national as well as international stakeholders
  • good academic writing skills, experience of writing research projects would be preferred
  • excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations
  • ability to maintain strong relationship with community and local health care providers
  • willingness to work in the community settings and ability to effectively work in a team
  • expertise in computer skills (MS office, Internet etc.)
