The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) has responsibility for enhancing the University's performance and reputation in research, research training, and research collaboration (nationally and internationally). This includes the strategic management of research at an institutional level; development of research policy; management of research strategic initiatives, and development of research collaborations in Australia and overseas.

About This Opportunity

The Director, Research Strategy, Planning and Performance leads the research performance function of the University, and is the key advisor to Professor Bronwyn Harch, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), in areas of budgeting, research block grants, research performance analysis, reporting, and management across the Research portfolio. The successful applicant will work closely with the University's senior executive to provide specialist advice and to identify, develop, and implement strategic initiatives, as well as leading the University's research performance function.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this position you will have extensive experience in a research-intensive University environment, with a high-level understanding of current issues in the Australian Higher Education sector, relating to research, research training, and research quality. The ability to analyse, interpret, and apply complex qualitative and quantitative information is essential, as is being able to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external groups, and interact productively with researchers at all levels of the organisation.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for five years at HEW Level 10. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, with employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
