More than 4,400 students are currently undertaking a higher degree by research at UQ under the support and guidance of the UQ Graduate School. The Graduate School has academic responsibility for managing admissions, providing research scholarships, supporting students during their candidature, and facilitating the examination of theses. The Graduate School coordinates year-round skills training, supports infrastructure and research facilities, and provides opportunities to accelerate career development for HDR candidates.

About This Opportunity

The HDR Liaison Officer (HLO) is a member of a HDR Service team who provides support and acts as a key contact point for HDR candidates and Post Graduate Coordinators (PGCs). As trusted service partners, this role assists the PGCs to proactively monitor candidate progress, supports the application process and coordinates opportunities for HDR development and engagement. The delivery of client-focused solutions, the establishment of productive partnerships, and continuously improving services and achieving outcomes and results are all key focuses of this role.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a relevant undergraduate degree and/or work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training; as well as a strong background in high level customer service provision. Excellent at exercising initiative and judgement, applicants will also have high level technological literacy and readily embrace new systems and technology. Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential. Higher Education sector experience and a familiarity with research training and development will be highly regarded.

What We Can Offer

There are currently two positions available. Both full-time, continuing positions, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

This is a HEW level 5 position, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $67,608 - $75,506, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
