The role

The School Manager is a highly autonomous and senior position that is critical to the effective leadership and management of the School. The School Manager is a member of the School Executive Committee, and plays a key role in contributing to strategic and operational objectives. This position is central to maintaining a high performing, collaborative culture in the School, which values contemporary leadership practices. The School Manager is the primary advisor to the Head of School and School staff on all matters pertaining to University, Faculty and School policies, operations and business processes.

The appointee will oversee a team of professional staff who deliver high quality services, and will work closely with the Head of School in identifying, initiating and implementing change management initiatives. In partnership with the Head of School and School Executive, the School Manager is responsible for the development of short and longer term strategic business plans, workforce planning and stakeholder relations which ensure that the School achieves levels of excellence in education, research and community outreach.

The person

The successful applicant will have a postgraduate degree with extensive relevant management experience (or equivalent), ideally in a higher education environment or similar. Given the focus of this role, the appointee will have strengths in leadership, management and strategic thinking, as well as business acumen. Candidates will be experienced in initiating and managing change, and will possess high-level skills in communication and negotiation, with a track record of achieving successful outcomes.

Remuneration

The position is full time, Fixed Term Appointment for 5 years at HEW 10A Level. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, including superannuation contributions of 17%.
