Centre for Innovation in Biomedical Imaging Technology (CIBIT)

The Australian Research Council Training Centre for Innovation in Biomedical Imaging Technology (CIBIT) is a multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers at The University of Queensland's Centre for Advanced Imaging and partners in the Medical Technologies and Pharmaceutical industry.

The purpose of this national centre is to provide research training for 20 early career and postgraduate students to fill critical skills gaps in the Medical Technologies and Pharmaceutical industry. Trainees will undertake industry-relevant research to overcome bottlenecks in the development and application of novel diagnostics, therapeutics and theranostics and to inform changes in regulatory policy that support industry growth.

About This Opportunity

The successful applicant will work with CAI Academics and Industry Partners to develop a research program in biomedical imaging using AI/machine learning. They will be expected to participate in publication of high quality scholarly papers, attend conferences, and assist with applications for research funding.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of physics, mathematics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, signal processing or an equivalent combination of relevant experiences, training or education. The applicant should have programming skills and experience with using simulations to solve research problems, preferably in the area of biomedical imaging. The applicant must have the enthusiasm and drive to conduct high quality research. Good communication and teamwork skills are essential.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 2 year fixed term position at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $67,452 - $90,882 plus super of up to 17%.
