Job Details

As Safeguarding Development Officer for Changing the Story, you will coordinate a range of activity - including the development of culturally-specific training materials in collaboration with our consultants and partners, a webinar training series for grantees, and three country-focused case-studies - as well as producing an independent piece of research in your own right.

This project aims to develop a deeper understanding of the cultural and ethical considerations that are required to ensure the safety and security of children and young people in post-conflict settings involved in the work of civil society organisations. Our focus will be on developing practical training opportunities and materials that will allow the sharing of best practice for colleagues utilising participatory methods of co-production in their work. In so doing, we will be principally concerned with raising awareness of safeguarding issues with, and support capacity building for, colleagues working in the Global South. This project forms part of the existing AHRC GCRF project 'Changing the Story' (CTS). CTS is a four year project, currently working across 12 post-conflict countries, that asks how the arts, heritage, and human rights education can support youth-centred approaches to civil society building in post-conflict settings across the world. It seeks, not only, to generate new insights from the work that CSOs operating in post-conflict settings are carrying out, but also to maximise broader learning being generated through the development and delivery of these kinds of Arts and Humanities-focused projects in development contexts.

Do you have experience of supporting and developing safeguarding practices for vulnerable young people in complex settings?

Are you able to engage with and coordinate collaborative projects that work across a range of diverse contexts?

Are you interested in the ways that co-production can offer new insights into the safeguarding of young people in complex research projects?
