RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students;
  • Providing research and clinical supervision to undergraduate students;
  • Providing research development and supervision to postgraduate students;
  • Participating in skills training and assessment;
  • Designing and updating course content and learning material;
  • Developing and maintaining the electronic learning environment;
  • Performing other academic and research duties as may be delegated by the Head of Department;
  • Performing administrative duties relating to the position;
  • Conducting research at a nationally and internationally competitive level;
  • Participating in the Department's strategic initiatives relating to research, teaching, learning and community engagement.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A relevant Master's degree in Radiography or equivalent qualification;
  • Registered with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Diagnostic Radiographer;
  • One DHET accredited publication;
  • At least one years' teaching and assessment experience including tutoring.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Scientific writing skills.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Experience in various clinical environments;
  • A qualification in Mammography;
  • Qualification in higher education teaching and learning;
  • Accredited publications in ISI journals;
  • A valid driver's licence.


The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
