Join a team of established colleagues within the Deakin University, Department of Economics at our Melbourne Burwood campus!

The Department of Economics, an established team of 33 full-time academics and five professorial fellows, is generally ranked in top 150-200 in the world according to most rankings. We have particular strengths in Economic Theory, Applied Economics, and Econometrics. We have recently been rated above the world standard the Australian Federal Government. Our PhD program, with its significant coursework component, hosts several workshops and conferences every year, and enjoys a vibrant and stimulating research environment.

We are continuously looking to enhance our intellectual capabilities to help us achieve our vision to be recognised as a leading international department. An exciting opportunity exists for a world-leading scholar to join the Department as a Professor in Microeconomic Theory, where, as the successful candidate you will undertake outstanding research, deliver excellent teaching, secure research income and provide leadership to junior academics and PhD students.

This is a full-time, continuing position to be based at our Burwood campus in Melbourne, (the cultural, sporting and culinary capital of Australia), world renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, world class events and festivities, fantastic restaurants, parks and sports clubs, as well as its close proximity to beautiful landscapes and countryside.

Deakin offers an internationally competitive compensation package and employer contributions of 17 per cent to superannuation (i.e. to Australian retirement savings), as well as an attractive teaching load. Appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and research track record.

We also offer a generous relocation package that comprises assistance with housing search and children's schooling search before the appointee arrives.
