DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATICS

LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Active participation and leadership in the research agenda of the Department;
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Informatics;
  • Departmental administrative tasks.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Lecturer:
  • A Master's degree in Informatics/Business Information Systems/Information Technology;
  • Publications in accredited journals or conferences;
  • Industry experience especially within the field of Business Programming.

Senior Lecturer (same as for Lecturer, plus):
  • A Doctorate in Informatics/Business Information Systems/Information Technology;
  • Publications in accredited journals and conferences;
  • Active in postgraduate supervision.

Associate Professor (same as for Senior Lecturer, plus):
  • National recognition as a researcher.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Appropriate language and communication skills.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • In-dept knowledge of Business Programming.


PLEASE NOTE: Active engagement as a researcher in Informatics within one of the Department's focus research areas in Informatics is required. Research in human-computer interaction, user experience and eye tracking will be an advantage.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
