Production Manager - Based in Philadelphia- Top Chemical Organisation

The Production Manager is responsible for directing operations in production units across the chemical manufacturing plant. This includes overseeing the performance of production superintendents with direct responsibility for the operation of designated production areas; primarily chemicals.

As the Production Manager you will be a key part of the site leadership team, working closely with the Director of Operations. Asides from leading a large team of union operators and 6 direct reports you will be involved in setting strategy relating to the continuous improvement of the plant.

This chemical manufacturer is well established across the globe; with a turnover of close to 20Billion USD.

This vacancy of Production Manager is critical to the companies US Operations and it could not be a better time to join, as they are in the process of developing a state-of the-art plant in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a safe working environment for personnel by providing training, equipment or operation changes, equipment maintenance, and meetings on safety and air monitoring.
  • Upholding company rules and regulations of employment and union contract.
  • Providing an accurate accounting of individual jobs by completing necessary paperwork and maintaining chemical security at all times.
  • Evaluating operations for improvement to optimize equipment capacity or manpower utilization to improve sales and/or profit objectives.
  • Controlling and reducing chemical-related production costs through chemical tracking, process/yield improvements, and scheduling to achieve rapid turnaround time and minimize chemical holdings.
  • Initiating process improvements, cost control procedures and yield improvements to enhance the overall efficiency and cost effectiveness of production operations.

Required experience:

  • S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline with an in-depth knowledge of the principles of chemistry and chemical engineering is required.
  • Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience in a batch and/or continuous batch chemical process.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
