The discipline of Physics is located in the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science. The discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence in quantum science and hosts a number of first class research centres.

The School of Mathematics and Physics leads the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Engineered Quantum Systems and hosts nodes of the ARC CoE for Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies and ARC CoE for Quantum Computing and Communication Technology.

About This Opportunity

The Administration Officer provides high quality administrative support to Professor Tamara Davis in running her Australian Research Council (ARC) Laureate Fellowship program into dark energy, dark matter, black holes, and cosmology. This position is fixed term for up to 5 years to specifically support the delivery of the Laureate program, at which time the role will cease upon the completion of the program.

The position is responsible for providing effective and efficient administrative services to students and staff in support of the research and engagement activities of the ARC Laureate program. This position ensures comprehensive service delivery to the Laureate Fellowship program by providing a conduit for academic staff to access the services of specialist functional teams. The incumbent will have the opportunity to be immersed in a group of inspired astrophysicists, and participate in group events.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A qualification and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • A high level of interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders both within and outside the university
  • Strong organisational skills including ability to prioritise work and manage competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills and a willingness to undertake new activities as the need arises
  • The ability to apply initiative to tasks and work independently
  • The ability to learn and respond to the change in processes, procedures and business needs positively
  • Proven ability to exercise tact, discretion and sensitivity in situations of a confidential and sensitive nature
  • Sound knowledge of key administrative policies and processes in a University or the ability to rapidly acquire that knowledge
  • Well-developed computer skills, including knowledge of the MS Office suite.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time 0.6 FTE position, fixed term for up to 5 years at HEW level 5. This position is specifically to support the delivery of the Laureate program, at which time the role will cease upon the completion of the program.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $ $67,608.41- $75,506.82, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
