Job Details

The BIA is committed to creating a vibrant working environment. We welcome applications from candidates with a commitment to working collaboratively with peers and the management team. Staff can also expect an extensive programme of training as well as a comprehensive CPD programme delivered by our dedicated CPD team.

Please note that because the EAP UG course is open to students under the age of 18, the University of Birmingham has a responsibility to:
  • Follow up all references
  • Seek explanation regarding all gaps in CVs
  • Acquire proof of identity and all qualifications
  • Ask referees whether there is any reason why the employee should not be employed in situations where they have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18
  • Ask all applicants for a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) before any appointment can be confirmed. Applicants based overseas will be required to supply evidence of an equivalent check from their country of residence.

Please note applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications, providing applications meet the role criteria.

However, non-EEA candidates will not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website ( www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration).

For informal enquiries please contact Lorraine Mighty ( L.Mighty@bham.ac.uk ) for EAP UG, Richard Gidwaney ( R.Gidwaney@bham.ac.uk ) for EAP PG and the Business Management English Presessional and Cathryn Overall ( C.Overall@bham.ac.uk ) for the 4 week Academic English Skills Course for Unconditional Students.
