Biomedical Services Unit
College of Medical and Dental Sciences
Starting salary is normally in the range £19,581 to £20,939. With potential progression once in post to £25,509 a year.

Job summary
To provide a high quality and proactive administrative support to the Biomedical Services Unit. Working as part of a small team the post holder will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks covering finance reception duties and general administration for the departmental office.
Main duties
Reception duties ie;
The post holder will be responsible for collating information from the in house ARMIS database and manual count sheets to produce detailed spread sheets confirming the sales and maintenance information for BMSU customers
Maintain up to date spreadsheets to keep a running tally of the income and usage figures of the department for use by the Management of BMSU and University accountants.
The post holder will be expected to input new orders and sales information into the in house ARMIS database.
ARMIS is a management system that provides BMSU with a record of its holdings and transactions. It is essential that the information is both accurate and up to date, full training in its use will be provided.
In addition the post holder will provide back and support as required to assist with departmental ordering and raising orders to match goods.
Provide back and support in the administration of the Home course providing course details and materials and liaising with external providers of the course.
Any other duties as may reasonably be required.

- Take messages and deal with queries
- Answering the door ensuring that access is only given to those authorised for entry
- Accept and check delivery of goods
- Making laboratory and theatre bookings

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- Good general education to at least GCSE level
- Substantial/administrative experience
- Computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Word and Excel
- A proven ability to use databases and spreadsheets.
- Good communications skills including tactful and confident telephone manner.
- Financial awareness and numeracy
- Accuracy and attention to detail
