Job Details
Due to restructuring, a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the University of Bristol as Director of Financial Operations. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will lead a large team of up to 100 colleagues responsible for all operational finance activity including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable (Income Office & Credit Control) and Payroll and Pensions. In addition you will lead the Finance and HR systems team responsible for the support, development and strategic direction of all Finance and HR systems across the University, as well as a small Continuous Improvement team supporting a cultural shift in the organisation.
You will join the Financial Services function at an exciting time as external sectoral pressures place greater emphasis on the need for efficient functions and processes, while at the same time service and performance standards are being driven upwards to meet the needs of our internal and external customers.
Through a cultural transformation to a philosophy of continuous improvement, you will play a pivotal role in the senior leadership team to motivate and empower your teams to improve service standards while realising efficiencies. As an experienced and charismatic leader, you will bring your technical knowledge and personal qualities to bear and help lead the Financial Services division through its next set of challenges.
The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Thursday 1st August 2019.
To discuss the role informally, please contact either Jason Smerdon, Group Finance Director, via jason.smerdon@bristol.ac.uk or Richard Buckley, Head of Finance Operations, via zo19043@bristol.ac.uk .
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
