(Level E) $183,564 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation will apply.

To enhance our research and teaching excellence, the University of Adelaide is investing in new elite academic talent. A new role of Professor of International Security has been created to provide key academic and research leadership within the School of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Arts.

Your outstanding research profile will advance the University's national and international leadership in the areas of cybersecurity, international relations, socio-cyber influence and counter-terrorism. Equally, your drive for teaching excellence will ensure high quality student graduates, supervising higher degree research students inspiring the best outcomes for all concerned.

Your commitment and engagement will promote robust interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations across the University as well as with our external partners, to enable research outputs to have national and international impact.

As a leader in your field, you will lead and encourage an environment of creativity and innovation in the School of Social Sciences, and, through the University's Colleges of Expertise, engage with the broader academic and professional community to promote and enhance the national and international profile of the University to bring us to the forefront of globally relevant International Security research and work-relevant teaching.

To be successful you will need:
  • PhD and a record of academic distinction and significant professional standing within a relevant discipline such as international relations, international security, criminology or politics.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality academic leadership including leadership in research culture.
  • An outstanding track record of research with evidence of publications in highly ranked journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract funds from nationally competitive grant schemes and other sources to support research.
  • A record of outstanding achievement in teaching and course development, and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
