About This Opportunity

Reporting to the Institute Director, the Deputy Director, Operations (DDO) will be responsible for the strategic management and high-level oversight of the scientific, technical and administrative infrastructure and personnel of the AIBN, consultation and governance structures, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the Institute's standing.

You will lead and manage the functions of research grants administration, research partnerships, infrastructure, information technology, occupational health and safety, marketing and communications, and executive support. In addition, you will partner with the centralised functions for finance, human resources, research higher degree, and advancement.

Our Ideal Candidate

We invite applications from those with a significant management focus in their current/recent positions, ideally partnered with a degree in science, engineering, or similar.

You will ideally hold extensive knowledge of Australian granting agencies and research funding opportunities, international funding schemes, and the structures and operation of State and Federal governments that impact on tertiary education and research funding.

You should hold exposure to high-level organisational management, including financial management, human resources management, strategic planning, policy formulation, and implementation of strategies.

Finally, you will be able to demonstrate a strong team focus, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-faceted position interacting with a wide cross section of stakeholders.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 5 years at Senior Administration Level 10B. A remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
