Post Title: Lecturer in Media
SBU/Department: School of Humanities

The School of Humanities wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Media to join the rapidly expanding Media Group from September 2019. You will join a small, creative and supportive group of colleagues. More information about the School is available in the attached Appendix.

Main duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant will teach across a range of exciting Media modules at undergraduate and post-graduate level. You will join the team in promoting our recruitment strategy and co-curricular events, alongside following your research interests. You will provide effective Module leadership, marking and grade administration and be a personal and subject tutor for students. Your contribution will inform curriculum development and you'll be an active and committed team member.

Skills and experience needed
You will bring substantial proven professional experience in at least one of the following areas: Corporate Communications, Internal or External Communications, Advertising, Social Media or PR. This will be combined with proven teaching experience at undergraduate or post-graduate level. You will be proficient in English language and you'll have a track record in effective communication with colleagues and other stakeholders. You'll bring a commitment to reflective practice and improvement, and demonstrate how you will pursue and promote both personal and departmental research interests. This role will involve both working on your own initiative, as well as being effective and adaptable within a team environment.

Qualifications and memberships
You will have an Honours degree, and ideally an MA or PhD in a discipline relevant to the post. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy would be advantageous.
