Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Developmental Psychology in the Department of Psychology (Ref: 497243), to commence on January 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The Department of Psychology was founded in 1968 and was the first department of psychology in Hong Kong. The pioneer spirit continues to push the Department to strive for excellence and break new grounds. The Department is represented by 20 faculty members with different areas of expertise, including clinical psychology/neuropsychology, cognitive psychology/neuroscience, educational and developmental psychology, experimental psychopathology, as well as social/health psychology. In each area, faculty members apply scientific methods in laboratories or field settings. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2019, Psychology at HKU ranks first in Asia. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Developmental Psychology or related fields, a good record of research and teaching as well as good quantitative analysis skills. The appointee is expected to maintain an active research programme, be responsible for teaching courses and supervising students at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as contributing to the administration of the Department and academic programmes.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At the current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of the gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of the basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
