We wish to recruit a Chair in International Relations who offers an outstanding record of academic excellence and leadership at an international level. As an exceptional scholar, you will have a distinguished track record of research leadership, an excellent portfolio of research publications, a commitment to teaching excellence, a strong experience of wider engagement and research impact and proven leadership skills more generally.

The Department of Politics is an excellent place to work; it provides a vibrant and varied intellectual environment, opportunities for mentorship and collaboration and unique support for policy and public engagement. We are strongly committed to dialogue between the sub-disciplines and to pluralism in theory and method.

We would like to hear from you if you are working on any aspect of international relations (including international studies; international relations theory; peace and conflict studies; environmental and climate change; security and human rights; global health; and any others.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is educated to PhD level or has other equivalent qualifications/experience. You will have an excellent research trajectory, which will complement and enhance the strengths of the Department.
  • Has an outstanding record of publication reaching the highest international standards of quality as well as an excellent record of grant capture, knowledge exchange, engagement and research impact.
  • Has the ability to design and deliver high quality teaching and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate students and is an inspiring and creative teacher.
  • Demonstrates qualities and skills suitable for senior leadership positions in the Department and Faculty, with a proven track record for leadership, mentoring and management.
