StemCore

StemCore is a state-of-the-art Pluripotent Stem Cell Core Facility at AIBN that enables and accelerates stem cell research for academics and industries working in the area of regenerative medicine. StemCore offers a range of products and services, including proprietary human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), cell characterization, and comprehensive training programs. In collaboration with academic and industry partners, StemCore custom-generate iPSCs, genome-edit, and differentiate these lines into various lineages to study disease development and use these lines for drug and toxicity screening.

StemCore is managed by Stem Cells Limited, a non-profit biotech company established by The University of Queensland and Monash University.

About This Opportunity

Two newly created opportunities exist to join us as a Research Assistant. You will assist the laboratory day to day operations of StemCore facilities via the provision of research support in the fields of advanced molecular biology, iPS generation and advanced gene editing and functional genomics.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are searching for someone who is able to demonstrate:
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in a relevant area, partnered with subsequent and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in:
    • Cutting-edge molecular and cell biology techniques; and/or
    • iPSc generation, tissue culture, characterization, differentiation and cloning.
  • A responsible approach to equipment use and maintenance.
  • The ability to rapidly learn new skills and use new technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and time management skills.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

We currently have two opportunities: one full time, the other part time (0.6FTE). Both positions are fixed term for 12 months.

Depending on experience against the selection criteria, the appointment will be made at either HEW level 5 or 6.

The full-time equivalent base salary for HEW 5 will be in the range $67,608 - $75,506. For HEW 6, the FTE base salary will be in the range $77,400 - $83,267. In addition, you will receive super of up to 17%.
