MAINTENANCE OFFICER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the hockey and tennis courts, and general maintenance and support.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade 12;
  • At least five years' experience in sport facilities management which includes proven experience and knowledge of the following:
    • Progressive experience in facilities maintenance and overall maintenance ability with basic technical skills;
    • Overall maintenance with painting skills, general technical carpentry and handyman skills;
    • Technical and operational processes and procedures of facility management to ensure smooth running of the sport facilities.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Knowledge and experience of Occupational Health and Safety requirements in a facility management environment;
  • Basic technical skills which are non-regulatory and includes:
    • Electrical plumbing of buildings;
    • Sound and lighting of fields;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism;
  • Problem solving skills and proactive;
  • Seasoned knowledge of technical and operational processes and procedures of facility management;
  • Basic skills in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint;
  • Basic skills with e-mail and internet usage.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Driver's licence.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
