Introduction

Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. It is the first hospital in East Africa to be accredited by the Joint Commission International from the USA,. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 60 years.

As custodian of the seal and identity of the institution, the Director, Public Relations (PR) and Communication is responsible for the development of the overall strategic public relations programme including overseeing the quality and clarity of communications materials whilst protecting the image and reputation of the institution to advance awareness of its mission and pragrammes to current and potential stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the CEO in the development of appropriate strategies to engage and foster relations with the institution stakeholders
  • Support the consumer marketing function with effective brand PR strategy, campaign management and execution
  • Develop media plan, key messages, story lines, pitches standard paragraphs, vignettes & appropriate communication activates as required
  • Lead crisis communications, providing counsel to CEO as needed whilst serving as the spokesperson
  • Oversee the quality, content and development of all communication material and tools including control of the use of the institutions seal and logo
  • Oversee branding of the institution including signage for the outreach centers regionally
  • Manage the content of the top levels of the website
  • Oversee the PR aspect of institution wide events including but not convocation, exhibitions, conferences etc.
  • Direct and oversee the development of strategies to foster stakeholder engagement including customer service initiatives and CSR initiatives

Requirements
  • MBA or Master's Degree in Communications and/or Marketing
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in a busy marketing or PR environment
  • Experience in Africa /across cultures in developing countries
  • Ability to integrate PR programs to support marketing goals and objectives
  • Positive team approach to working with industry and government partners
