HCA Nurse ResidencyProgram (Medical Surgical Unit)

StaRN Program (12 weeks total):

Our StaRN Program willprovide you with the tools necessary to succeed in today's hospitalenvironment. It will help you transition out of the classroom setting and ontothe unit by providing the following training:
  • 5 weeks classroom, self-study, skills & simulations
  • 7 weeks preceptorship
  • Certifications: ECG, TeamSTEPPS, BLS/ACLS, CPI

After StaRN, you willtransition into our Professional Development Residency:
  • 9 month program factored into a full time position on the unit
  • You will learn Charge Nurse and Preceptor skills
  • You will collaborate with a mentor to complete an evidence based Capstone Project (4 hours a month)
  • Your project has an opportunity to gain recognition by corporate for further recognition

Additional Informationabout our Medical Surgical Units- Oncology & Orthopedics:

  • You will have the unique opportunity to float between our Medical Surgical Oncology Unit & Medical Surgical Orthopedic Unit to gain a variety of skills and experience!
  • Our Medical Surgical Oncology Unit is a 20-private bed unit where you will work with a patient population to include mostly adult and some pediatric medical surgical oncology patients, and some chemotherapy, inpatient hospice, and pediatric post-op surgery. Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 with CNA support.
  • Our Medical Surgical Orthopedic Unit is a 12-private bed unit with a patient population of adult orthopedic and general overflow. Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 with CNA support.
  • We provide new nurses the opportunity to build their foundational nursing skills to be successful on any unit and continued education with PALS & Oncology Chemotherapy Certification.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school within the past 6 months- BSN preferred
  • Applicants may apply and be offered position prior to passing NCLEX exam
  • Previous nursing support or service industry experience preferred
  • Self-motivated and strong communication skills required
