Job Details

The School of Chemistry are seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide excellent customer service and administrative support to staff and students as well as visitors and members of the public.

The role will be based in a busy school office and day to day duties will include welcoming and directing visitors, arranging meetings and catering, dealing with cash and post, stocking printers and copiers, filing, photocopying, printing, compiling and formatting documents, data entry, and managing the staff coffee lounge. You may also be required to prepare documents for meetings and take minutes as required.

You will have a good understanding of office procedures, together with the ability to multi-task and to prioritise your own workload. You will need to be able to work well under pressure, and in a flexible manner, and also have the aptitude and willingness to work closely with others as part of a team.

A good knowledge of software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and calendar is essential, as is an understanding of the organisational requirements of a busy office. Any experience of running events and updating social media channels and/or websites would be an advantage.

A positive, cheerful attitude, with self-confidence, strong communication skills and the ability to use your initiative are essential.
