Job Details
The Laboratory of Human Posture and Movement Biomechanics from the Department of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy - School of Medicine, University of São Paulo, is offering a full-time post-doctoral position to develop a study in running biomechanics. The main goal of the study is to understand the effects of foot and ankle therapeutic approaches on the biomechanics of running, on the coordination, strength and functionality of the lower limbs muscles in order to contribute to the adoption of more effective therapeutic and preventive strategies for the population of adult runners.
The fellowship has a minimum duration of 24 months, granted by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
The selected candidate will work on the project Biomechanical and functional aspects of the musculoskeletal system of runners: chronic effects of therapeutic exercise and aging, under the supervision of Professor Isabel de Camargo Neves Sacco. The research project is linked to a FAPESP-funded Thematic Project (please visit https://bv.fapesp.br/en/auxilios/95218 for further information).
The candidate must have a PhD degree (preferably obtained in the last 5 years), English skills in writing and speaking, and proven experience of a minimum of one year abroad in experimental research on running biomechanics and biomechanical data acquisition, processing and analysis. Experience with Matlab programming and application of artificial intelligence algorithms in biomechanical data are highly desirable.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
