RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to provide effective health and wellness services through the Employee Wellbeing Programme (EWP) Unit aimed at the various wellness domains. This will include the rendering of psychosocial counselling services in order to enhance the general health and well-being of employees while maintaining service quality and client satisfaction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Honours degree in Psychology or Social work
  • A minimum of eight years clinical psychosocial experience of which includes:
  • A minimum of four years' clinical psychosocial counselling experience;
  • Plus a minimum of four years' hands-on experience in the health, wellness, and EAP sector with experience and working knowledge of EAP in various aspects in the development and implementation of health and wellness programmes or projects, of which two years' working experience in a corporate or Higher Education/tertiary environment;
  • Experience in project coordination, implementation and marketing;
  • Experience in drafting of documents and statistical reports, an effective document management database, filing systems and diary management
  • Registration with either the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) as a Counsellor or SA Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker - category of practice of all psychosocial matters
  • A valid driver's license.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • General knowledge in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, stress management and overall health and wellness in a corporate setting;
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work in a time-limited, structured and solution-focused environment;
  • Good interpersonal skills and human relationships with clients, service providers and co-workers to manage SLA's;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use statistical information to identify trends and track progress;
  • Ability to work independently and handle simultaneous assignments with accuracy and success;
  • Ability to take initiative, being proactive and innovative;
  • Attention to detail, applying logic and accuracy;
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and accountability;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills within a diverse environment.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • Master's degree in Counselling/Clinical Psychology or Social Work;
  • One-year Project Management qualification;
  • Relevant courses in the health and wellness field;
  • Certificate or postgraduate training in Employee Assistance Programmes;
  • Experience in successful implementation and maintenance of stress reduction and management programmes.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
