Job Details

You will be part of a large (20 people) interdisciplinary team (The Electronic Materials and Devices Research Group) lead by Prof Themis Prodromakis and will be based at Southampton's Zepler Institute. The vision of this unconventional EPSRC programme is to develop a new electronics technology based on oxide materials. This approach is planned as a holistic investigation of functional oxides, nanoscale resistive switching memory (ReRAM/memristors) and emerging applications that entail both fundamental as well as applied science research.

This post will specifically involve developing appropriate circuit modules for interfacing, controlling and exploiting novel oxide-based nanoelectronic devices (memristors). Opportunities exist for developing both embedded platforms as well as integrated-circuit topologies that will be carried out collaboratively with foundries, CAD tools suppliers and other industrial partners. You will join a highly successful and visible group of researchers in related projects, funded by both EPSRC, EU and charitable Foundations, and will be required to coordinate activities among academic and industrial partners.

It is essential you have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electronics and have a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

1. Advanced Materials

2. Nanomaterials

3. 3D-Nanostructured electrodes

4. Solid-state Electronics

5. Electrical Characterisation of Semiconductor Devices

The position will be based at the Highfield Campus and will commence as soon as possible

For further information, please contact Prof Themis Prodromakis at: t.prodromakis@soton.ac.uk

There will be some travel involved both within the United Kingdom and abroad to conduct research, visit collaborators, and attend conferences.
