A prestigious opportunity now exists to join The University of Adelaide as Jury Chair of English Language and Literature.

Founded in 1921 by Mrs Elizabeth Jury and named in honour of Mr George Arthur Jury, the Jury Chair has been held by eminent scholars including Archibald Strong, J I M Stewart, Charles Rischbieth July, Colin Horne, Penny Boumelha and Stephen Muecke.

The Jury Chair provides leadership in academic and research areas within the School of Humanities, particularly within the fields of English Literature, Literary Criticism, and Cross-Disciplinary research which may include, for example, Creative Writing, Indigenous Cultures and Digital Humanities.

Reporting to the Head of School of Humanities, the Jury Chair is a professorial position that contributes to excellence in teaching, ensures high quality student graduates, supervises higher degree research students, and generates research outputs of distinction and leads discipline-based collaborative engagement.

The Jury Chair will lead and encourage an environment of creativity and innovation in the School and engage with the broader academic and professional community to promote and enhance the national and international profile of the School and the University.
