The Department of Mathematical Sciences within the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at AUT is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time lecturer or senior lecturer in the area of Statistics/Analytics. Candidates should have a PhD and a track record of research success in an area of the Statistical Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with strong research and teaching interests in Bayesian statistics, statistical data analysis and modelling, multivariate analysis, or stochastic operations research. Experience with advanced topics in analytics and consulting to business and industry as well as expertise with software packages such as SAS, R and Python, is required to support the Department's recent developments in these areas.

The position involves conducting high quality research as well as the teaching and development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the department's highly successful analytics programmes. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research and postgraduate supervision in analytics area(s) through her/his specialist field. The salary level offered, and related workload conditions will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has undergraduate programmes with majors in Analytics, Applied Mathematics and Astronomy as well as postgraduate programmes in Mathematical Sciences. As one of six departments within the School, the department provides a wide range of service teaching in Mathematics, Physics and Statistics. The School currently has 3200 equivalent full-time students and 150 permanent academic staff with approximately 250 PhD students.
