This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) is part of the UQ Faculty of Science and currently has 104 academic staff, and 31 professional and technical staff and over 1,120 equivalent full-time students.

The School's extensive teaching and research activities span the fields of geology, human and physical geography, environmental science and management, biodiversity conservation, geospatial science and remote sensing, mineral resources, palaeontology, geophysics, occupational health and safety sciences, and urban and regional planning. SEES teaches into a diverse range of programs for undergraduate, honours and postgraduate coursework students, and higher degree by research programs.

The School has a vibrant, multidisciplinary research profile and enjoys consistent success in securing nationally competitive grants, industry funding, publishing numerous papers in high-quality international journals as well as having an important influence in areas related to government policy and industry practice.

About This Opportunity

The School is seeking to engage a Lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision in the area of hydrogeology. The position will also involve development of the School's courses and programs in this area, as well as performing research, administrative and other activities associated with the School and its strategic research directions. This may include, but is not limited to, original research in the fields of civil and mining hydrogeology, coastal aquifer hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry and isotope groundwater dating, ecohydrology, and the application of geophysical methods in hydrogeology.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of hydrogeology and have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area, together with teaching skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants also require evidence of a contribution to research, including successful external grant applications and a strong record of publication in high-ranking refereed journals in the area of hydrogeology. Candidates will need experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies to develop co-operative research initiatives.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic level B.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $95,771 - $113,728, plus super of up to 17%.

Our Selection Process

Please note that Panel Interviews have been scheduled for the week commencing 04 November 2019 at The University of Queensland's St Lucia campus.

As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a research seminar and mock lecture to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Research seminars and lecture topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
