Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR)
The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) undertakes solution focused research addressing societal challenges and is a national leader in advanced interdisciplinary social science and evidence-based policy research. ISSR researchers work with diverse academic disciplines and collaborate with government agencies and the private and not-for profit sectors to address key Australian and international public policy questions that span the life course and require investigation of areas such as social inequality, health and well being, education, employment, housing, social services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander environments research and international development. The Institute leads advances in social science and evaluation methodology, and is developing new capabilities in social data science.
About This Opportunity
We are currently looking for multiple Research Assistants/Senior Research Assistants to assist the ISSR team.
These positions are critical to advancing ISSR's research in response to external demand for new knowledge in the areas of; education, health, family dynamics or early childhood education and care. You will provide key inputs and manage the implementation of small to medium-sized research projects.

This position is located at our Long Pocket Campus.
Our Ideal Candidate
With a degree in social sciences or a relevant area of applied research, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training, you will also have the following skill set:

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed term position at HEW level 6 or 7. We will consider part-time applications as well.
The full-time base salary for HEW level 6 will be in the range $77,400 - $83,267, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
The full-time base salary for HEW level 7 will be in the range $85,222 - $93,085.99, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
You will be able to take advantage of UQ Sport Facilities , salary sacrificing options, on-campus childcare, discounted private health insurance, cheap parking, development programs and many other benefits.

- Quantitative data analysis or qualitative data collection and analysis;
- Contribute to research publications; and
- Participate in research group meetings.

- Excellent communication skills in the research context;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the area of social research and quantitative or qualitative research methods Programming and analytic skills using statistical software such as STATA (preferred), R, Mplus, SAS or similar packages; and
- Experience writing reports and producing publications.
