Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Architecture
AUT's new School of Future Environments, opening in 2020, seeks applications for two key full-time positions in Architecture. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to establishing and growing two exciting new programmes; the Bachelor of Architecture and Future Environments and the Master of Architecture (Professional) commencing in February 2020.
The degrees reflect AUT's commitment to shaping our place in the world by responding to our Māori heritage, Pacific identity and ethnic diversity. We seek to create exceptional collaborative student-centred learning experiences; to apply knowledge for equity and wellbeing; to enhance our position as Aotearoa New Zealand's only university of technology, and; to be strongly aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Mātauranga Māori.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in Architecture or a related discipline. Appointments will be made at a level appropriate to qualifications and experience and will commence at a mutually agreeable date. Part-time or fractional positions may also be considered. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience of advanced professional practice and teaching and/or research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Applicants are also invited to express an interest in taking on the role of Programme Leader for an initial period of two years.
Architecture will complement a range of new research and teaching programmes in the School of Future Environments. The school will exemplify AUT's strategic commitment to new forms of transdisciplinary research and practice, encompassing built, natural, artificial, social, cultural, policy, legislative and economic environments. The school is based in the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, a diverse community of creative, technical, scientific and entrepreneurial thinkers, makers, researchers and doers, working in an environment designed to foster imagination and innovation.

- Multi-modal architectural communication, including visual, verbal, written, drawn, filmic, analogue/digital modeling and fabrication techniques.
- Innovation, entrepreneurship and strategic thinking in design, emerging technologies and professional practice.
- Urban futures
- Architectural Intelligence, disciplinary knowledge formation, histories and changing ecologies of practice.
