Job Details
Are you an early career researcher looking for a challenge?
Do you have a background in Molecular Biology?
Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research intensive Universities?
This post is funded by grants from the Medical Research Council (MRC) RC to Professor Michelle Peckham and Professor Neil Ranson , and to Professor Michelle Peckham and Dr Julian Ochala (King's College London).
This is a 2 year fixed term post (with the potential for extension), in which you will be working with postdoctoral research fellows in the group to support their projects on the structure and function of myosins with the aim of understanding why specific mutations lead to disease. You will use a combination of approaches, that include expression and purification of protein using E. coli, Sf9 cells, and mammalian cells, mammalian cell culture and light microscopy approaches. You might also be asked to help prepare samples for electron microscopy and circular dichroism experiments. You should have experience in cell biology, tissue culture and imaging, molecular cloning, western blotting and expression and purification of proteins.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was reawarded a Bronze award in 2017. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees. Our Athena SWAN webpage provides more information.
