The School of Chemical Engineering is an international leader in the chemical engineering field and has an excellent reputation, built over many decades at The University of Queensland.

We deliver quality programs and leadership in chemical engineering education, research and development, and expert consulting to support the process industries. Undergraduate teaching within the School focuses on the disciplines of chemical, biological, environmental and metallurgical engineering and postgraduate programs are available in growing fields including water, sustainable energy and petroleum engineering.

About This Opportunity

The project aims to deliver an effective long-term controlled release of therapeutic agents to cattle through oral delivery into the rumen. You will lead the development of an innovative matrix composed of Simplexin (the therapeutic agent) and biodegradable polymer in order to achieve a drug delivery device with a controlled release rate.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

With extensive research experience in the area of polymer and biopolymer processing, characterisation, associated material testing and more specifically in polymer degradation; our ideal candidate holds a PhD in the area Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science with a focus on polymer science and processing.

Demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of polymer characterisation using methods such as DSC, SEM, FTIR-ATR and skills in polymer processing such as extrusion are essential in this role.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time, fixed term position until 31 January 2020, at Academic Research level B.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $95,771.32 - $113,728.12 plus super of up to 9.5%.
