Job Details

The Aga Khan University's Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations ('the Institute') based in London, United Kingdom is looking to recruit a Project Manager for its European Research Council-funded Digital Humanities project (KITAB). The responsibilities of the role will involve working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the KITAB team in order to support the team in the effective delivery of the project's objectives. The role will be initially offered for the period September 2019 to June 2021, with a possibility for extension subject to availability of funding.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely completion of all grant deliverables
  • Maintain a project-wide planner that tracks and ensures coordination of workflows
  • Provide regular reports to the PI on different streams of work
  • Manage all grant budgets
  • Ensure that grant spending is on track in all lines for all grants
  • Coordinate with accounts team in Karachi and London
  • Complete all grant reports
  • Maintain all project documentation for reporting including final copies of grant agreements, MoUs with partners and collaborators and sub-contracts
  • Oversee all administration for the project and serve as the chief point of contact on matters relating to administration
  • Issue all subcontracts, manage end-to-end recruitment process
  • Liaise with grants administrators and partners on administrative matters


Requirements
  • Educated to degree level. Specific project management training or qualification will be preferred
  • Experience of managing projects and delivering to deadlines
  • Experience in or familiarity with research within a humanities or social sciences environment will be highly preferred
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting and report writing
  • Strong organisational skills with experience of managing complex projects and ability to work with team members and collaborators at all levels.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills in English with the ability to write formal letters and emails
  • Demonstrated planning and problem solving skills with the ability to identify, pre-empt and review potential issues with regards to the organisation of travel and events
  • Readiness and capacity to work on technical matters.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages including MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, Googledocs, Slack, and Google Calendar
  • Willingness to learn new skills to support development of the project
  • Ability to work with and provide support to multiple stakeholders
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, skilled at time management with the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • A high level of maturity and the ability to work under pressure and against deadlines without continual supervision
  • Good team player with ability to work collaboratively with colleagues locally and internationally
